It’s undeniable that there is a change in the air. It’s coming, fall is right around the corner. While I’m never one to wish summer away, especially one as glorious as this one has been, a part of me is SO excited for sweaters and boots and apple cider. When the weather changes, there’s no need to submit to a drab, brown landscape. There are still plenty of beautiful options to carry your landscape through until the snow flies. Start planning now and you’ll thank yourself while you’re sitting out on the porch wrapped in a blanket and sipping that cider. Dreamy.
The Red Twig Dogwood is a fall stunner that continues to shine into winter. With it’s deep red branches and plump white fall berries, it’s an excellent focal point for autumn landscapes. Find it here.
The Sedum are just now starting to come into their own and they are going to be beautiful! They a great pop of color and impact at just the right time. A great late summer into fall transitional stunner. See them here.
Black Eyed Susans are another fall classic. They bring a certain charm and warmth well into the fall months. Try a more unique option like ‘Cherry Brandy’ found here!
With it’s deep foliage and feathery texture, the Japanese Maple makes a breathtaking focal point year round, but feels especially at home in the fall landscape.
Coral Bells or Heuchera are a favorite year-round staple around here that are especially well-suited for the fall garden. They come in a variety of color variations to fit any style and add the perfect pop of color well into the fall. Try the ‘Marvelous Marble‘!
Another great late summer into fall transitional plant in the Hibiscus. With their tropical look, they’re a great addition for any gardener who has a hard time letting go of summer as the weather turns. Try the Summerific ‘Berry Awesome’ for a pop of pink. Or for more drama, go for the Summerific ‘Holy Grail’. Both found here.
For a whimsical touch to your containers, try some ornamental peppers.
Hydrangeas are a great addition to any garden and many varieties (like the Fire & Ice) develop into a beautiful pink shade during the fall months. Enjoy them on the branch, then bring them in to dry and enjoy all winter long!
I LOVE working here at the farm. Every part of it. Every day. Even so, there are days when I have a hard time looking past my to do list. Water, weed, prune, keep the kids alive and out of the wildflowers- check, check, check. On those days I have to remind myself to slow down and take it in. When I actually take the time to look around, it’s overwhelming how blessed I am to be living THIS life, in THIS place.
Thank you for supporting THIS dream. We couldn’t do it without you all.
